ANNOUNCEMENT
MEXICO INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION PROGRAM
MERGES UNIVERSAL FAMILY SERVICES AND ADOPTION ALLIANCE
Adoption Alliance has great news for families who
wish to adopt a very young child. Recently we have expanded our
relationship with Universal Family Services’ Mexico Adoption Program. This
long-standing international program offers families a unique opportunity to
adopt a very young infant whose first months of life are spent in the
child-loving atmosphere of the Hispanic culture.
IBBIE
WHITE DEVELOPS MEXICO
ADOPTION PROGRAM
Contacted
early in 1995 by attorneys in Mexico,
Ibbie White, Director of Universal Family Services (UFS), established a Mexico International Adoption
Program that encompasses procedures outlined by the Mexican civil code and the
U.S.
and other countries’ immigration authorities.
This
successful adoption program has grown to include adoptions in three states in Mexico.
More than 100 families from the United States,
Ireland, Northern Ireland, Spain
and Switzerland
regularly send photos back to UFS to share their joy in parenting their adopted
Mexican children.
After 10
years' assisting families to adopt internationally from Mexico, Ibbie White recognized a
need to provide greater service to the loving families who wish to include a
Mexican infant in their lives.
MERGING
RESOURCES OF ADOPTION ALLIANCE
AND UNIVERSAL FAMILY SERVICES
Beginning in
January 2005, Universal Family Services merged its Mexico International Adoption
Program with Adoption Alliance of Denver, CO, USA. This provides a unique
combination of skills and knowledge that promises to enhance the adoption
experience for families.
Adoption Alliance, a full service adoption agency
(http://www.adoptall.com)
brings 15 years of experience in international adoptions to the merger.
They have maintained programs in Vietnam,
Russia, Guatemala, Colombia and several other
countries.
Adoption Alliance is a fully licensed and
accredited adoption agency. Their staff of adoption professionals and social
workers – many of whom are adoptive parents - offers a wealth of
resources to the Mexico International Adoption
Program.
BENEFITS
TO FAMILIES
With this
merger, families benefit by having an experienced adoption professional:
- To
counsel them in the intricacies of international adoption,
- To guide
them in preparation of documentation, and
- Accessible
to answer questions and concerns throughout the adoption process.
UNIVERSAL
FAMILY SERVICES CONTINUES TO SERVE
Universal
Family Services continues to focus on the in-country
aspects of international adoption, making sure the program accommodates the
legal requirements of the various countries involved. Mexico has adopted and
implemented the Hague Convention on International Adoption, yet details
continue to be worked out coordinating various countries' implementation of
these protective regulations.
As with all
international programs, in-country requirements vary from time to time, and
on-going liaison efforts are needed to update information. Additionally,
new resources must be developed to maintain the program’s viability.
This merging
of Adoption Alliance’s extensive resources provides a
welcome expansion of the Mexico International Adoption
Program developed by Ibbie White. Adoption Alliance's staff, resources and years of
experience complement past efforts.
CONTACTING
ADOPTION ALLIANCE
The Mexico International Adoption
Program will be enfolded into Adoption Alliance's International Adoption
programs. Linda Donovan, Director of International Adoptions, assumes the
lead position in contacting interested families, guiding families in the early
